wiring up a new hei distributor

i have a 94 Silverado with a 5.7 350 i just got done rebuilding the motor and
decided to switch from tbi to carb i knew id need a new hei distributor among
a few other things like a regulator since im using the stock fuel pump but the
only problem im having is that every time i do research its someone saying
to using a different wire for the tack on the hei distributor when before i did
research it was my understanding i could use the old red and white wire red
being power white being tack that the tbi distributor used im really confused
on which wire from the harness i need to splice on the tack side of the
distributor if someone's done a similar swap and can help it would be greatly
appreciated
