1992 Chevrolet C1500 Manual Transmission

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband has a 1992 truck and the brake light's and turn signal lights stay on sometimes. Then his brake lights just stopped working all together. He changed the stop light switch and with a little jimmying it started working again but the his speedometer and odometer stopped working. How can we fix this problem without replacing countless parts. And yes we have replaced the turn signal switch; The connector plates also appear to be in good condition as well.

use a voltage tester. they are cheap and you clip one lead to a solid ground like an unpainted bolt that connects with the frame. the other lead you test with. test the fuses first, then start testing the wires that go from the fuse consul to b the light. if im not mistaken that kind of a problem has to be in the switch, the bulb, , the fuse, the relay, or a wire is shorting out. sometimes the wire shorting is not directly the wire to the light but is on the same series
