Have you pulled off the cover and checked the bulbs? Is the switch for the lights good and attached?
I was told there was no switch for the lights. Can you tell me where the switch might be? I will pull the cover and check.
It may not be a switch, without a switch they would all be lit, all the time. Have you pulled the cover to check the bulbs and check for voltage at the lights. It may be similar to the old style console shifter where it was only one bulb and a sliding panel slid with the shifter to cover the holes that aren't selected. If that's the case then its very likely that the one bulb is out. Countless times I have worked on an older vehicle and something irrelevant broke while fixing something else. Replaced a clutch in a buddies f150 and went to restart it and nothing. Jumped the solenoid in the fender and it started. Traced it back to the clutch safety switch. We weren't even inside the vehicle at all and the clutch safety switch went bad when he parked it.
