2007 Camry SE

Asked by Beano Jan 25, 2007 at 05:06 PM about the 2007 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: General

I love  driving my new SE, but I am a little disapointed with the amount of road noise. Is there a solution?

Hi Beano, The best way that I can think of to reduce road noise is by purchasing new tires that are designed for a smoother, quieter ride. I found a tire on the Goodyear website that says the tire they offer does just that. Here is the site: http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyeartireselector/results_tire.jsp?mrktarea=Passenger&sortby=bgquietride&direction=DESC You could also send a quick email or make a phone call to the dealer you bought it from and ask then what they recommend to reduce the road noise. Great looking car though!

Tires are a big part, but most of it comes from the insulation in the firewall and frames. High end models have it like bmw, lexus etc. I know there is a product called Dynomat which can be added to the inside of the body of the car. Its primarily used for dampening ratteling for Bass systems, but can be used for road noise.

Beano, another solution (cheap), is to spray undercoating in the wheelwells (behind the wheels and tires) and underneath the the car. Dealerships charge a lot of money for something you can do yourself! It can be bought at most auto parts stores (AutoZone, Advanced Auto etc.) and even Wal Mart in the Automotive Section. It is usually in an aerosol can. Read instructions. Two types of undercoating: Rubberized and Asphalt. Rubberized usually lasts the longest. Approx. 10 bucks a can. Usually 2 or 3 cans will do the trick. You Tube will more than likely have a vid on how to, and "where to spray or not to spray".. Thanks. Good Luck!

We just put Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires on our 07 SE and I think it is a little quieter than the "speed rated" performance tires that came on it and they have a mileage warranty that the performance tires don't have.
