Toyota Camery Instrument Cluster

Asked by Shawn Dec 11, 2016 at 01:15 PM about the 2007 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry SE 4 Cyc with 162000 miles. Earlier last week I've
been experiencing difficulties with the instrument cluster. While driving the
vehicle my ABS and brake lights will sporadically turn off and on.
Simultaneously my speedometer will drop to 0 and my odometer will stop
collecting miles. Beyond that, as far as I can tell, the vehicle still operates and
functions fine. These sympton appear to be a popular issue among Cameries.
My OBD brought up these codes C0210, C0215, C1241, C1330, U0073.

C0210, C0215, C1330 revolve around a faulty speed sensor. Would replacing
the speed sensors potentially resolve C1241, U0073? I intend on bringing my
car to a hobby shop to replace the sensors myself. I'm not a 100% sure if it'll get
me anywhere because from what I've bewb told U0073 almost always leads to
a replacement of the ABS module or ECU. I'm pretty new at this sort of things
and would appreciate any sort of advice.

Does the Transmission shift properly when the Speedo is crazy

I'm thinking you may have a bad Cluster(Combination Meter). I believe the VSS in the Tranny sends vehicle speed signal to the Speedo...then to other computers...ECU...ABS ...Skid Control Body ECU. We really need a wiring diagram to verify. When the Speedo acts up...what happens if you smack the dash a few times?

99.9% of all electrical problems are due to bad connections. First check all wires leading from the combo meter. Especially if you have had work done under dash, (ie. new radio installed etc.) Check especially for faulty grounds. Also my Mazda Rx7 had a similar issue and found a bad print plate, common with Rx7's. (the green circuit board behind all the meters) It was quite obvious as when I disassembled meter, the print plate had black spots (FRIED) LOL. Hope this helps.
