Timing chain cover gasket

Asked by GuruZ1YX3 Nov 07, 2017 at 02:58 PM about the 2007 Toyota Camry XLE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry with  2AZ- FE engine.
I was told by the local dealer my timing chain cover
gasket is leaking should there be a oil drip wet spot
on my driveway?  I was told this would need to be
fixed prior to the excessive oil consumption test on
recall engines. Is this legit or an attempt to
dissuade me from pursuing the recall?

     Thanks

Ok But... If the Toyota dealer service dept. claims the timing chain cover gasket is leaking, would or shouldn't there be an oil drip thereby a wet spot on my driveway from this leak? Thx

I went to local Toyota dealer for airbag recall issue. Was also told timing cover leaking. Nothing on garage floor before going to dealer that day. After that day started getting oi splatters on garage floor. What??? did dealer do to cause this?
