My tachometer isnt right it says im idleing at 5000rpms at start up and when the car warms up it goes down to 3000 rpms.What can I do to fix this problem?

My car idles at 5000 rpms at start up and when its warmed up it goes down to 3000 rpms acording to my tachometer.What can be the cause of this problem?Its a 1991 camaro rs 5.0L The car actually runs fine.

I had the same problem with the tach on my 92 Camaro. Tried the resistor fix but it didnt work. Finally found a tach board at the junkyard that worked for about a year. I found a new replacement tach board. Only had it for about a week but it seemed to fix the problem! Hurray!! http://www.wc-autoparts.com/new-1990-92-chevy-camaro-v8-tachometer-circuit-board/
