Overheating issues

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My vehicle's water gauge topped out. I changed the thermostat, radiator cap, drained, flushed, and filled the system. I checked the belt and hoses and they were fine. I ran the vehicle for 20 minutes or so, and the gauge topped out again. I checked the upper hose, it was hot. I checked the fans and they were running. What is the problem?

The head gasket is about all that could be left...

Mine did this and the problem was the radiator itself. I hope you got your problem fixed before you ruined the engine (like I did!)

The water pump does not cause overheating problems unless is leaking all the water out?

I replaced a hose the thermostat and flushed the radiator this summer. Car still is leaking out radiator fluid from overflow side. Went to autozone to buy fluid they said ur van takes a special kind of fluid. It isn't green it is orange. Even overflow cap warns of need for special type of fluid! He put it in and put a whole jug of water in too. They said the buring rubber smell and smoke are coming from the engine oil leaking! Drove the car that night radiator smelled worse and left side steam or smoke poured out heavily! Didnt make it home in 1 degree weather with no heat by the way and thermostat rose again like this summer when it went! The temp usually didnt go up since this summer when thermosatat was replaced. Why also do we not get heat on both sides and only get it when antifreeze is first poured in before it leaks out? Is this engine related dud to severe oil leak in back of engine underneath? Head gasket, engine, radiator, water pump or iheater core issues or all of the above?

So I sent mine to the shop for a raddling noise that occured when we started moving. Sounded like the tire was rubbing on the plastics for some reason but they werent. Car dealership said it was the water pump. Also thermostat would barely go over the half Mark and jump back. They said they fixed the car... We get it back and it did the same. Changed thermostat and Bam started overheating when we were in park. Took that out and removed the thermostat from the old housing, now the car doesn't overheat. Oh and when the a/c is running it starts climbing up. What else could be wrong?? Drained radiator and filled back up. Made sure there was no air left in the radiator.

My 2009 Town and Country has been running extremely hot. Mechanic diacnosed water pump faliure. We resounded that we didn't have the money currently. Mechanic said to monitor the radiator fluid and get the job done asap If we keep checking the raidiator, how long do we have to to put the funds together?

I have gone thru 2 water pumps and 2 radiators in 4 years. The water pumps self destruct. Why chrysler came up with somethying that needed special antifreeze that no one seems to stock and it nis pricey.

I have 2008 Town and Country and my van is behaving abnormal. Coolant is rusted and when i took it to the mechanic, he said change the coolant and thermostat. I did it but immediately after the coolant change, it again turned into rusted color... Then he said change the radiator, I did it and again the problem is still the same.. They said your car is overheating but there is no indication and the reader is still below half and they said that head gasket is also ok... I am tired of paying the mechanics again and again. Can anyone tell me what could be the exact issue.

I have replaced a radiator twice and water pump twice in 4 years, had imraeplace an engine that self destructed and my mechanic said that there was no reason toput special antifreeze in the cooling system. Antifreeze is to expensive and reccomends changing often, because of the acidity that happens. Most aluminum pipes have been replaced, think above all of the different metals involved.
