I have a 1991 chevy caprice wagon with drum brakes in the rear and wondered if I can
change them to disk brakes?

Yes you can once you find a Chevy Caprice (maybe a police car) with the disc set up from the factory. You will have to replace the rear axle brackets for the drum brakes with brackets for the disc calipers (requires cutting and welding unless you can find a bolt on set from the factory or aftermarket "check out ECI in Vernon, CT"), new disc calipers, new brake line end fittings (drum are ANS thread and disc are metric), a new parking brake cable (it will have different ends), brake pads (for braking and parking), change the master cylinder and brake pressure residual valves. Master cylinders for disc/disc brakes are different then disc/drum brakes due to the difference in reservoir sizes. Disc/drums have smaller reservoirs for the disc vs the drum brakes, hence disc/disc master cylinders have equal size reservoirs.
