aaaah, have transmission service done at say AAMCO where they will take off the pan and find the shreds (hopefully not) change that filter and put new fluid in the torque converter and fill with the proper fluid~...that's me advise~
I just bought a 2004 jaguar after 2 days it showed gearbox fault but the car shift normal still. I took it to a mechanic. He hooked it up to the computer it came back a sensor. He said when water gets to the sensor it will show gearbox fault. Need new sensor

I'd received a gearbox fault due to a misfire. The car had gone into limp mode and would not drive more than about 10 mph. I had to replace an ignition coil on my 2002 Jag X-type.
Possible defective heater module in dashboard. It sends a code that reads as gearbox fault. Mine had in occur mostly in Winter months and if you shit the ignition off you will be stuck there until you reset the code, which I could do immediately with my ODB2 sensor and phone app. Also, your dashboard driving panel will light up like the Fourth of July with every single warning and non warning lights illuminating at once. It was scary the first time, lol.
