What could be the problem with my 2005 Jag Xtype now?

Asked by vfrink Nov 15, 2013 at 02:23 AM about the 2005 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

More problems with this car that I can tally!!  Now, if I go over 3200-3300 RPM the transmission seemingly fails to engage and the check engine light comes on and blinks.  I must let off the gas - dropping the RPMs so I can reengage and drive. Engine light stays on permanently.  Oddly, I can go 70mph as long as the RPM's stay under 3200-3300.  What gives????? Jag tells me (after they had it for 5 weeks, -- yes 5 weeks) that I need a new tranny.  Also JAG's main computer cannot communicate with my car.  The handheld can.....not the main one.  This is a new issue. I have replaced the engine, the cat converters, gear box, etc etc etc.  I think the tranny is the last remaining major component. Tell me its not the tranny please......could it be the tranmission control module???

My husband fixed the same problem on my 2005 x type by replacing 2 O rings on the intake manifold. And then replacing the vacuum line to brake booster.

It cost my husband maybe $12.00 to fix everything and took him 30 minutes to complete. We haven't had any issues since. Love my Jag.
