Jaguar 2005 x-type 3.0.

Asked by MiKE Sep 01, 2014 at 09:33 PM about the 2005 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0L Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm having a problem where issues, battery idiot light comes on and goes out, the gear
light comes on and the trans won't shift up above 2nd gear.  If the car sits at the
garage, and when the mechanic goes to work on the car, no problems show.  I do
know that the pulley on the alt. and belt needs replacement.  The pulley's teeth are
smooth and rounded.  Could the issue with the alt. be the reason for the other electric
problems?

Replacing the belt is a quick and easy start. It's chicken soup. It couldn't hurt.
