Why is Jag xj6 running poorly?

Asked by GuruDY9WT Sep 18, 2017 at 04:06 PM about the 1993 Jaguar XJ-Series XJ6 Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove the Jaguar a few miles, parked for an hour. Weather was in the 90's, the car temp was normal. When I started the car it would not rev much over 1500 rpm and ran poorly. Code 48 showed idle speed controller.  I checked and the controller was working fine.  Unable to drive the car was hauled home. It starts and runs normal until it starts warming up then symptoms return.  Would appreciate your advice.  Thanks,  Richard

Dear F_O_R, That wasn't an answer on the xj6 running problem. The trouble occurred instantly. GuruDY9WT

We can only go by what you post. I would try fuel system cleaners, a new fuel filter and maybe check the fuel pressure. A tune up is probably a good idea. Idle control valves are cheap so you might want to try a new one anyway.
