is my transmission bad?

Asked by Ricardo Dec 24, 2019 at 06:05 AM about the 1998 Jaguar XJ-Series XJ8 Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car hesitates accelerating i can press on the gas
and it it will take 3 seconds to start moving while
making terrible noises and rpm's will go high, it will
also struggle going up a hill. Last week i flushed the
transmission fluid hoping that will fix my problems
but all that did was fix my issue where my car
would get stuck in park. After i pumped gas there
was a coolant leakage and made it seem if the
engine was overheating or something was just
evaporating.

Sounds like you have multiple issues going on. It very well could time for a transmission replacement or rebuild. Also sounds like you have coolant leaks and possibly other issues. I would think hard about putting anymore money into the vehicle. Once you go down that path, you will forever be spending money on something that isn't worth much and or reliable.
