There is an orange switch on my 1990 88 Royale. It is underneath the steering wheel on the right side. I am pretty sure it is after market. What is this used for?

1993 OLDS 88 3.8L car running really ruff (like missing on a few cylinders) so replaced plugs and wires. restarted the car still the same but i seen a spark jumping from the #6 tower to the alterna...
