If I were you I would see if I could get my hands on a new set somewhere. Try ebay or get in touch with Saab Clubs. Even though it's a long call, you could try to buy it direct from the international stocking in Belgium.I truly believe that the costs of fixing the set instead of replacing the set is either equal or more expensive than buying it new. That is, if you can find someone to fix it to your satisfactory at all. Fine electronics nowadays is a nightmare to fix.
(just fyi, it's usually called a "SID" - Saab Information Display). search the classified listings on saabnet.com, there's someone named Guy Senesac who does great work, so I hear. Also, I've heard of a place called BBA reman that also repairs the display I sent my display to Kramer Micro Repair in Massachusetts, and that guy does awful work, and tries to extort more money out of you. STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!!
Hi, common problem with the SID on these cars and the 9-5 is losing pixels in the display. You descibe it as 'fuzzy' so may be a different problem. I fixed the pixelation problem myself using a 'how to' description given on saabscene.com. It is very easy to do, the SID is very easy to remove from your car with special tools and without risk of damaging your dash.
Hi. Could you send me the exact link to the fix you mention please? Been grinding through SaabScene without much luck. Our 00 93 SE certainly has a pixelation problem. Son says the radio drops out sometimes. Though turning it off then on seemed to remedy that event the one time it has happened to me. Thanks BMH

Hi I live in Ireland and drive a 9-3 convertible. This problem is common on this model. there is a place in Wales that does a great repair for €60 or £50. i got mine fixed there through the post in one week. You will find it on e-bay...... SID repairs
