Trip computer screen has dots all over it? What happened?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I turned my car on and all of a sudden a bunch of random
lines covered a number on my screen. When I turned my
car off and then turned it back on there were suddenly
dots all over it. I have no idea what happened, and there is
no back story. I didn’t press down on it too hard, or press
it at all as it’s not touch screen, and have no idea how this
could have happened. What’s going on??

Hi guys! It’s me, the owner. Here’s an update of what it is now.

Mine just did this. It’s been sitting in the driveway since April because of Covid and yesterday I went to get something out and saw the screen. I assume the heat caused it.
