Need honest opinions on salvaged titles?

Question type: General
SALVAGE TITLE ?? I am looking into a salvage title, Infiniti G35 very clean I'm going to
have a mechanic look at -- I want to make sure the frame isn't bent, make sure it wasn't
fire or water damage. Any suggestions? I'm not looking for anything yo resell, I'm looking
to buy something that I'm comfortable with and keep it.

Personally I would not fool with a savage title vehicle. Run a car fax it should show why it was salvaged. Water damage is a big issue. If that's what was wrong with it you will never be able to trust the electrical components on your car. Even if they have been replaced with new ones the wiring harnesses will corrode and give you trouble from now. IMO anyways
If it is a high end car/suv etc. it takes a lot to total one and get a Salvage title.. If it is a Mid priced car it may have had just cosmetic problems..Like Dan said, get a full report before you buy..
Kriston - dandyoun - run from this car as fast as you can - Salvage Title vehicles are just not worth the worry or the headaches!!!! You just never know what the real truth is on these vehicles! Find another one!!! You will be soo much happier!
Also....check with your STATE REGULATIONS about them.. each state has very different rules..
I live in Louisiana. It's natural to shy away from the salvage but should I just get the idea out of my head or should I look into it more?
thanks everyone... I need something reliable I have a 4 yr old and I need to make sure I get something that is not going to give me problems. I think I am going to run from a salvage and try and find something with a clean title.
I think that's the best thing to do. Your state and Mississippi are known for flood damaged vehicles.
you get what you pay for,you cant sell it for a lot after it has salvage on title
