Misfires on three cylinders after replacing ignition coils on spark plugs

Asked by Abel Feb 07, 2021 at 09:35 AM about the 2003 Jaguar S-TYPE 4.2L V8 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I started out with misfires on cylinders
one three five and seven. I replaced
ignition coils and put brand new spark
plugs and I still have misfires on
cylinders three five and seven. What
can be causing this issue to still
continue?

Either the cylinder is not holding compression, sometimes due to head gasket issues or a valve. Also the fuel injectors on those cylinders might not be working correctly due to wiring or just clogged with dirt. Hard to say with doing some testing. Start with a cylinder pressure test.
