I have an automatic 1999 c5.  There is a lot of
heat coming in the cabin from the
transmission.  How can I correct this?

Check the leather shift boot for holes, cracks, or separation around the edges. Doesn't take much to let the hot air in..... Good Luck !!!

Insulation added under the shifter in the tunnel and best solution is insulation under the carpet under the cabin and trunk including the console. Most C5's have that problem and you can find videos on how to do it with a roll (or two) of $20 self-adhesive insulation from the hardware. I've done my console and it helps any intend to do under the carpet.
