I have a 1996 Land Rover Discovery 4.0 V8 with a manual transmission. After speaking to several online LR parts warehouses and several dealer parts depts, no on seems to know if there is a neutral safety switch for the manual trans. Does anyone know what will keep a 1996 manual LR Discovery from starting while it's in gear? Besides the obvious answer of not turning the key...

I have read in several articles that say, there is no neutral switch on manuals only automatics must be in park or neutral. I have a 96 disco 1 and it starts fine/ dangerously without being in neutral. Are you trying to make it not start in gear? If so you may be out of luck, I always park it in neutral and set parking brake no matter what to prevent accidents.
