what battery fits land rover discovery 2

Asked by Scott May 21, 2013 at 04:25 AM about the 2001 Land Rover Discovery Series II 4 Dr SE AWD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Landrover Discovery 2 battery has died and its going to cost me nearly $600 for the proper replacement. Anyone had any trouble with using an N70ZZ instead of the original battery with nearly 1000CCA?

I'd say you should do a search in your area for battery vendors and get a quote from them - the most expensive one I can find for a TD5 (they need more cranking amps than the V8) in Australia is $235 without any discounts or anything, so you should be able to find something below that price. Definitely don't pay $600 ! :-)

If I remember correctly it's a Delco Freedom 72Ah battery, nothing special about it, any car battery with the same form factor and power rating will work. Unless you are driving under arctic circumstances there is no need to have 1,000CCA, even 600 will do you fine.
