light comes on that say sevice sterring colume and the car only idles and when you take off it cuts off what is the problem

it seems to be a key chip problem or someting maybe to wrong in the computer or maybe some sort of theft device built in can you help

read your owner's manual and it will tell you what it is for. Now for d.i.y. you can make sure your battery is good first (seems to maybe/sometimes be this. Also it was a recall issue but your model year might not have been included. You can try (no for sures here) to take out the key and swing the steering wheel back and forth from lock stop to lock stop and put key back in and try to start. I think you will find that this is a problem that Vette owner's with this anti-theft mechanism have had many times.
