Engine
Asked by Fabien Oct 16, 2008 at 12:18 AM about the 2003 Land Rover Range Rover HSE 4WD
Question type: General
Does anybody know where does the V8 engine of this model come from.
I know it was designed while owned by BMW but it went out during the Ford ownership, therefore I am hesitating between the BMW V8 and the Jaguar V8.
The dealership where I want to buy it claims it is a 4.4L and I believe the Jaguar engine is a 4.2 (same as Range Sport).
So if anybody has a definitive answer I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

the 2008 model is the 4.4l, but your talkin about the 2006, two new engines with superior performance were introduced. The flagship's Supercharged trim level gets an intercooled DOHC 4.2-liter V8 delivering 400 horsepower -- a 35 percent gain over the previous V8. The 420 pound-feet of available torque, up by 25 percent, provides better acceleration.so your referin to the jaguar v8
The current Jaguar V8 petrol engines are a 4.2L Supercharged and a 4.4L naturally aspirated. They have been fitted to Range Rovers since late 2006. A 2003 V8 Range Rover would certainly have a BMW engine. The Jaguar engines are far more advanced than the engines that they replaced.
