Would buying a 2006 Range Rover HSE with 70k miles on it be a bad idea?
Asked by gavinw35 Jul 22, 2012 at 06:43 PM about the 2006 Land Rover Range Rover HSE 4WD
Question type: General
Im 17 and have a Lexus RX right now. Im looking to get rid of it and get either a used 05' Porsche Cayenne
or a 06' Range Rover HSE... I am looking up to $28,000 and 70k miles. Is it stupid of me to look for a
Range Rover that year and miles? I expect bad gas milage that is not a deal breaker... The only deal
breaker would be if it would be in the shop all the time like my last 05' Jaguar...

Evey car has its issues, but if you are willing to put up with the hassles and own it., go for it. There are many known problems with this car and they are posted online and a search will show you what they are. Good luck, I think it is a great looking and functional truck
Personally I'd never buy a later model Range Rover as they have too much in the way of electronics (I like to be able to maintain it myself), but for those willing and able to spend their money on cars this isn't a bad one. They're pretty well built cars but will require their servicing done regularly, don't skimp on that or it will definitely bite you. Range Rover parts aren't cheap so check it over and make sure you have one with full service history.

A 17 yr old with a Lexus RX, use to have a Jag. Wondering if to get a Cayenne or a RR. Stop the bs and get off the Forum!
Thank you to all who responded! Forgot this was still on here. Ended up going with a 2008 certified BMW 750Li that I've had going on 2 years. Great car but the warranty is soon to be over. When that happens it's time to get rid of it. Things are a small fortune to keep running my warranty has covered over $15k in repairs this year the biggest being a new tranny.
