I have been eyeballing a Range rover Sport, Is it smart of to start with one is up in miles, so a 2006 with around 85000 or look for one with less miles

dont do it unless you have tons of money for gas they are major gas gusslers.
I wouldn't I have a 2011 and plan to keep it only for as long as the warranty is good after that, get ready for some serious repairs, sad, but true.
I wouldn't own a Land Rover, or really ANY luxury vehicle, unless its in full factory warranty. For these its 4 years/50k miles. You can feel confident in older models if they are Certified Pre-Owned thru Land Rover though.. That is about a $3,000 warranty so expect those to cost a little more, but well worth it!
