how aften does the leaf springs for a HUMMER H3 break? is there a problem with the springs? what area is most likely to beak.

I live in Michigan and my mechanic told me I need leaf spring replaced. I thought it should last the life time? Please comment!

I have owned my 2006 Hummer H3 for 12 years now it has 181,045 miles on it I just replaced the rear leaf springs this past weekend (10/13/2018) I never had a problem with them until I rotated my tires on my last oil change (10/12/2018) and noticed my springs were rusted and cracked off from the front mounting bracket, I called a near by GM dealer they had a pair of springs in stock $172.00 each I pick them up and installed them, Good as new.

I also have a 2006 h3 with 180k I just rotated my tires this weekend and noticed driver side leaf spring was broke in half at front hanger. You Could never tell unless you jack it up by the frame so axle drops down. I will be fixing it next weekend.
