I have this problem on my car as well. If your airbag light flashes for 3 times, then flashes 3 times again before pausing, that would indicate a lamp fault code of 33, which means there is a failure in the driver side pretensioner circuit. See the yellow numbers in this list of trouble codes: http://www.vehix411.com/ford-airbag-diagnostic-trouble-codes-dtcs/ You can remove the plastic cover over the driver's seat belt between the front and rear doors to get at the pretensioner wiring connectors, but only do this after you have disconnected the car battery, otherwise you could set off the airbags. Then clean the connectors with a spray made specifically for cleaning electronic parts, such as CRC QD Electronic Cleaner. If this does not fix the problem, the pretensioner may have to be replaced.
