Air ride control module intermittent failure question??

Asked by Joe Jan 09, 2019 at 01:27 AM about the 2007 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited

Question type: General

My 07 Lincoln town car rear end saggs like a droopy rat!  I replaced the air
springs that wasn't it, i bench tested the air pump, it runs i don't know what
the air pressure should be does anyone know? I made and replaced the
leveling sensor rod, last time i knew that worked. Only thing left is the
module under the dash and the air spring solenoids. I don't have any air
leaks. I'm thinking a pin on the module is making a poor connection. Possible
melted a solder joint (common on circuit board's) . So far the compressor did
turn on for me twice in 3 days and ran appx 2 min then never came back on.
(Keep in mind i did bench the compressor it does runs directly to 14 v.) I'm
going to heat the inside of the car maybe the heat will cause the circuit board
inside Module to expand and just maybe it will make contact then turn on. I
had a similar situation on a 2002 lighting module where the tail lights
wouldn't work. I found a melted solder on the module, I re-soldered the joint
and saved myself six hundred bucks for a new one. Has anyone
experienced this kind of air suspension situation ? Also does this have a
relay or is it fused? if so where would i locate it??

These systems are very basic. 1. After you diagnosed and determined the rear air springs BOTH? were leaking you changed them. 2. Next you turned the system back on and let the compressor (charge) the new air springs and raise the vehicle. 3. Next you turned off the air system switch and let the vehicle sit overnight confirming the repairs you made were correct and tubing connection were not allowing leaks at the air spring solenoids and the vehicle did not lower. There is a relay for this system but you said the compressor is coming so the relay is OK...The compressor will time out after running for a fixed interval without a signal confirming the suspension has reached the proper ride height this requires a cycling of the system on off switch to reset it. Rare to see a module fail. If everything else checks out and you still think its the module scan it for connection errors.
