Transmission

Asked by Brooklynromeo Mar 27, 2016 at 10:26 AM about the 2007 Mercury Mountaineer V8 Premier AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 mercury mounteneer. At first it started
doing a little skip while I was driving and would stop
then accelerate. The I was in a red light.
Accelerated but the car was moving slow. Now I put
it in drive and it won't move at all. It does reverse.
I'm I going to have to replace the transmission.... If
so bout what price range should I get.

Might not need a transmission transplant but it should be looked at by a qualified tech to determine the cause. If you do need to replace the unit, it will probably run between $3000 and $5000. If you like the car and it is otherwise in good condition, this may be the way to go if you want to keep it for another 10 years. Otherwise, trade it and move on. Mercury transmissions from 2005-2007 have given many people trouble like you (and me - I have an 06 premier AWD).

The 2006 and 07 is the only one that will enter changes with one another. That's the only one that I know that will work. But some one told me a ford 500 would work. But from the pictures I am seeing they will not.
