Fuel for 2007 hummer h3

Asked by Charlie Nov 05, 2017 at 10:01 AM about the 2007 Hummer H3 4 Dr H3X

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I got my h3. I was told to only use non ethanol or 93
octane, which sounds ridiculous to me. If the car manual
says 87 or higher. I just wanted to know what benefits
does non ethanol have and should I stop putting it in my
tank.

I've heard on here than newer cars (yours) can run the ethanol blend without problems , it cost less but the mileage ain't quite as good , 87 octane has the same energy as 91 , they only offer non-ethanol in 91 where I live and that's what I buy because growing your fuel and paying someone extra to do it is just stupid ,

E10 (ten percent booze) will work just fine but you will get better fuel economy with 100% gas. Do not use E15.

Likely the former owner only used non-ethanol and in this case, the former owner may have done so like I only use Mobile 1 motor oil in mine. It will likely have cleaner internals from doing so, but should run on any/either as the computer will adjust for fuel used on its own if needed. Many times as in this case if your owners manual says 87 then it will run on it. If your area is like mine (our county) then all gas station have only 10% ethanol or greater and we have to go out of our county line limits to buy non-ethanol fuel types. For me its an hour drive. I do use it when near there and fill gas cans for my small engines, but when driving around here I just use whats here. I do however like to use mid-grade (89) and ever-so-often before on empty I fill back up with top-grade (92-93). It last a few miles longer per tank full.
