Suspension

Question type: Car Customization

I love this truck with TRD off-road pkg.  Only thing is the clearance from the ground, especially at front.  Suspension already satisfactory with what it came with.   I don't want to lose that.  If I gain about 3" of more clearance, it would be perfect with better look.  Few places they offer between $600 to $3,000 to lift without larger tires, with installation.   Any guideline to go by you know of?
If the lowest cost to lift without losing any factory parts does not affect the stability or vibration, do you think it would be OK?  The highest cost place said it is basically for serious off-roader.   I am merely using this vehicle to climb thru the mountin roads for hunting purpose and not running it with speed or jumping.   Give me some ideas, pls.

To do the job right is about $1000 a inch. There are some cheaper lifts but they are just that, you get what you pay for. my 91 K5 Jimmy had a 4" lift cost $5200, never had a issue with it (well the lift anyways). The guy that lives two houses down got a 3" lift for $1000 on his 98 dodge 2500 4x4 it looked good, well he has had many issues with it (the lift, very poor) and has replaced the truck (with the same one, he is just going to get a "quality" lift this time), just to get rid of it. So my advice is to spend the extra and get a good quality job, than be stuck out in the bush with a broken truck, just my two cents and experiance. Hope this helps and best of luck. Enjoy the truck.

You would probably be fine with a $240 Toytec spacer/aal lift. Install it yourself in a few hours with basic tools (plus a spring compressor) and save yourself the money. If you feel you need something better in a few years then you spent less than $300 on it, and have more of an idea what you'll need. Can also get larger tires on in the mean time. I've been running that lift with 285/75 16 tires for about 2 years now. Works fine, but a little harsh over large bumps (rocks, tree limbs, ruts, etc). If you want to spend a little more, go with OME coils and shocks like mentioned above. I'm planning on OME shocks, 886 coils, and Dakar leafs at some point now that I know what kind of terrain I go on, and how much I actually offroad. Toyotec sells OME on their site too.
