I don't know, my '07 Dodge trucks and wife's Jeep Liberty all call for 87. She is running 89 but if they are good to go on 87, I will run them on 87. Too much extra octane can lead to carbon buildup.
Thanks...this is very helpful...I asked because my engine was making a sort of spurting sound and one of my friends recommended a higher octane than 87.
Well i would just stick with putting in what the car recomends. It would also be a plus to buy gas from Shell, Marathon, BP or any one of the main gas companies as they add engine cleaners to the gas to help it run better. I would not put 89oct in with a octane booster or what that other guy recomended as that is not the best thing to do. What i do is buy midgrade since it costs the same as regular by me so why not. I also put in Restore / 15 oz. 4 Cylinder Engine Restorer and Lubricant into the engine oil every oil change as it is designed for 3000 miles and is an added lubricant and cleaner for the engine. It is good to use on higher mileage cars, I have been using it since i hit the 95000mile mark and have noticed that my engine runs smoother and is quieter. You can buy Restore from most any auto store out there and it runs around $5 they sell it for 4,6, and 8 cylinder engines.
But in short since you have a new car just stick with what the car recommends for octane level it is located in you car manual. Dont waste money on putting in mid or premium gas as it really does not do anything for your car. But at the higher end gas stations the premium does have even more cleaner in it then the other two.
