My 1986 pontiac fiero gt cranks good but won't drive in any gears

Oh boy....I had a '87 Fiero GT with Auto. transmission and some issues with the trans. (Had to get a rebuilt one mostly due to the same type of problem you're having). Is it Auto or the 4 or 5 spd manual? Could be the shifter cable like CamaroCollector said.
