the car is losing power and threre is a loud sqweeking sound that i cant diagnose the
radio cuts off and on and the lights dim and also the gauges sometime go haywire can
you please help.

inside the alternator. testing while not under load might give you false readings. have some one in the car hold the brake and put in in gear and test.

Iv been having this same issue on my 85 now for quite a while... Iv even changed out the Alternator several times and have replaced several wires as well thinking that was the problem, but no Luck....?
