okay we have a flat belt...the tensioner pulley wears out...starts chafing the side of the belt and the alternator fails...along with all the other components...get a new component belt tensioner~....with idler~ http://www.amazingsavingsautoparts.com/index.php? action=item&id=7587031&adv=froogle
It is either that or the alternator is not mounting quite true to the belt, and the pulley is rubbing on the belt.

thought of that too, Mike....remember a twin timing belt Subaru came into the shop and the bolts were loose...supporting the component assembly~ needed heli-coils in that....I gave that job to a different shop~ y'know bolts do come loose with vibration if there isn't any threadlock on that~
