FSI question

The US Spec GTI does have a higher ride height than the Euro Spec GTI, this can be adjusted with the purchase of OEM Euro Springs or aftermarket suspension. The cloth seats are not available as heated. The GTI is NOT available with Rain-Sensing Wipers, Auto-Dimming Rear-View Mirror, or Auto Headlights. The Euro Spec GTI 17" wheel ( a smaller, silver-painted version of the 18" Hufweisen wheel) got it from golfmkv.com but I think the us spec engine probably has been tuned to run on 91-95 octane petrol but euro spec tuned to run on 95-98 octane I also have a GTI:D
Thanks Baldur! Actually, my question wasn't complete. I meant to say what is the difference in "engine" types as I understand FSI in USA and Rest of the World have different meanings. The GTIs in the US apparently cant use the same technology because of the high sulphur content of their fuels. So my question is, how are they mechanically different? I too, have a GTI. Check out my pics in my profile :)
Hey, mechanically there is no difference. It is just the engine management which is different. I am living in UAE here the engines running on so called EURO 2 norm because the fuel isn't so great like in Europe. If I would take the car back to Europe I would make an software upgrade to EURO 4 norm and then it is fine. And usually the engines are running better on higher octane then less, even the fuel consumptions drops with higher octane. Cheers.
