How to fix my 1997 acura 3.0 CL

Asked by Tyreafa Jan 10, 2015 at 12:24 AM about the 1997 Acura CL 3.0 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my car has been sitting for about a month and a half. I didn't think to go start it up for
that period of time. Now that I've given the car to my son and today was the first day he
drove it. The car starts up good but when in park the rpm stays at between 1-2. After
coming to a stop and taking off, the car just takes off without having to press the gas
pedal, what is the problem is this? Please, someone help

Sounds like the idle air control valve might be stuck. Also check for vacuum leaks.

Thank you so much, I did figure it out once I got into the engine and did some testing.
