constant clicking in relay when ignition key is off and out

Asked by edwheeler78 Jul 10, 2020 at 07:50 PM about the 2008 Jeep Patriot Sport 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 2008 jeep patriot. when i stop the vehicle and remove the key within
10 to 15 seconds the relay for the ignition in the engine compartment starts to
rapidly click. and it will not stop untill i remove the battery terminal. now if i
remove the relay and put another relay in place while clicking, the clicking
continues. if i remove the relay the vehicle will not start. so i have to remove
the relay whenever i got to leave the vehicle otherwise the clicking continues.
but it also stops when when you turn the vehicle on with the key. can
someone tell me what it may be or if i can bypass it?
