i have noticed all of a sudden a certain intermittent ticking. I checked my oil level and it was low so I put in a quart (which fill it to the full line) but the ticking persist. Any suggestions or ideas?

Change the oil and filter. Use a good brand name oil filter. Not "Joe's Oil Filter and Storm Door Company" brand. Every 3000 miles for the next 3 oil changes.
