Catalytic Converter
Asked by tracylee11 Nov 17, 2016 at 07:44 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Vibe Base
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Pontiac Vibe, 2007 check engine light came on. The deanship told me they
didn't make them anymore for vibes, and to take it to a muffler shop to put a
universal one in. When I spoke to the muffler shop on the phone they quoted
me $450. When I took the car in to the muffler shop they are now saying they
can't put a universal one in and are quoting me $1,000!!!

Just try a few repair shops in the area, a good shop can change it for you it doesn't need to be done by a muffler shop, they are ripping you off at a 1,000.00

Really? Okay thank you! I'm so confused because I'm getting conflicting information. The dealership told me they didn't make catalytic converters anymore for Pontiac vibes and to get a universal one. Now the muffler shop is telling me a universal one won't fit. So frustrating and want this car to last me a little longer.
If you live in the state of fruits and nuts make sure you get one that is legal there.
Dont be be confused they is always a way, no need to spend that much money
Ive gotten conflicting $ advice from muffler shops 600- 700 cant afford it direct fit universal whatever jus goona cut it deal with the noise

I know this is a little too late, but use Google. I just repaired my daughters 2007 Pontiac vibe with a universal catalytic converter. It passed emissions just fine. We live in Texas, though.
