battery light 2006 Highlander stays on ???

got in the highlander, notice the battery light stays on ?

Have alternator tested light is saying alternator is not charging.

firebird338 is spot on right. Your battery is not accepting a charge, far most likely culprit is alternator but could be bad battery, if it's old..as in over 4 - 5 years

tennisshoes and I were posting at the same moment. But he is also hit the proverbial nail. The ECU in the mid 2000's... 2003 to 2008 to be specific, were prone to failure in Toyotas. My '06 Corolla was re-called for that. Good call 'shoes

Hope the alternator is easy to replace !! Just did my sons in his Jeep, I must be a master mechanic now right ? Thnaks

On the right hand side of the battery looking towards back of car there are two plugs One has nine wires. Pull this plug apart and look at the male ends and see if you aren't missing one Mine rusted off on the white wire with blue tracer and the battery light always stayed on I cut the two wires and attached a jumper wire between the two and the light finally went out

Rick has a good example of another reason. It's not uncommon and cheaper to solder in a new connector (9 +9} than buying a new alternator

i have 2010 base toyota highlander. the alternator was change. but when i twitted the steering side to side{ right/left} the battery light come on. what is the problem?
