Is it normal for the external temperature display to be delayed for 5-7 minutes before displaying the correct temperature?

It seems as if the temperature display does not start to register correctly until after 5-7 minutes of driving after I start it up. Then it quickly adjusts to the correct outside temperature.

The car has less than 1000 miles on it. Should I return it to the dealership or is this normal?

This condition is normal The thermostat is located some where near the wheel well according to the dealer and registers the ambient temperature at the time the car was sitting. The temperature adjusts as the air moves and cools off the pick-up probe giving a more accurate reading.

This is normal i believe. My car once registered 110 when i turned it on but once i started moving decreased. I believe it is where it is located that causes this "problem".
