Sugar will clog the fuel filter. I would change the filter again. You may have to have the tank dropped and cleaned out if a filter change does not do it.
You may have to replace the fuel injectors as well. Plus get a locking gas cap. I have them on all my vehicles. Helps prevent theft and vandalism. Hope that helps! Jim
Hi Amanda. Sorry about your misfortune. I agree with Js. I would replace the injectors. (used ones would be fine, if you're running out of money on this). Also flushing out the fuel line would also be a good idea so you don't contaminate the new injectors. After that, you should be fine.
Scan for codes. This may give you clues as to what is wrong. Changing the fuel filter again is the cheapest way to start. Everything else is expensive. Maybe your car insurance will help you out.
Good idea about the car insurance, although possibly too late, but well worth asking. I believe the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump on that car so may not be as inexpensive as suggested. But I’m not sure.
