Wanting to get more power and higher top speed

Asked by Paulw97 Dec 30, 2016 at 05:29 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt LT Coupe FWD

Question type: Car Customization

I have recently bought a 2007
Chevy Cobalt Lt 2.2l and I'm
looking to find the best way to
maximize the performance of my
car I was thinking a turbo setup
but not sure if that would work
anyone with experience willing to
lend some advice? I'm open to
other options as well and a budget
isn't a problem

If you wanted performance and budget is no problem, why not just buy a performance car?

Turbo is costly mod and these engines fail to pieces all on their own. I would buy some of the highest speed rated low profile tires you can afford and light weight aluminum racing wheels. You will get more top end speed per dollar than any other mods and keep you engine in good shape.

YOU CAN GET A HIGHER TOP SPEED BY TURNING OFF THE GENERAL MOTORS SPEED LIMITER IN THE ECM. THEN YOU CAN ACHIEVE MORE HORSEPOWER BY A COLD AIR INTAKE OR HI FLO AIR FILTER AND LARGER DIAMETER EXHAUST, MORE AIR IN MORE AIR OUT.

If u want power but not want to spend a lot I'd go for a supercharger I'm putting one in my 2006 chevy cobalt 2.2 ls guy I know is putting it in for 300 not cost for install but there cheap and they will give u maybe 60more hp depands on how much stuff u do to your car like exhaust dyno tuned maybe rebuild motor it all depends how much u want to do with it

I am about to do the same and I was thinking about k&n cold air intake(350) and protuning has header with exhaust manifolds and exhaust for about 400, then do the cams about 300-500. That should open her up and make a great a to b car that will keep up but also a great daily driver. I already did my rims and wheels and kn cold air and it has pep but needs those last parts.
