Battery light

Asked by GuruLT9YV Mar 29, 2019 at 07:30 AM about the 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Ford explorer Eddie bower edition.  I
recently had charging problems.  I replaced the
battery. Shortly after the vehicle died AZ nd I
limped into a parking lot. I called roadside
assistance and ended up finding out the alternator
was bad, so I replaced it. On my way into work
today my battery light came on. I havent had a
chance to get it tested yet, but if both are good, as
they are new, what could be the problem?

A common problem for Ford during this era is the pigtail that plugs into the alternator was a faulty design. They tend to get hot and degrade and they are somewhat fragile. I would check this first and if it appears in good shape have the charging system tested. Good luck,,
