Loud drill/winding sound while desselerating

Asked by J Jul 16, 2020 at 08:20 AM about the 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Loud drill/winding noise when I let off the
gas...goes away as soon as I press the
gas. Only happens in gear while driving.
Seems like it's coming from around the
middle of under the car. Filled front
differential didn't help. Checked transfer
case fluid was good. Any help would be
greatly appreciated  thx

G A... Thx for responding...I'm hoping it's the front differential...when I checked the fluid it was about a qrt low I topped it off. Seemed to make it better for a little bit but noise came right back. I just put a new motor in it with 80 k miles. 3500$ later. So I'm hoping to fix it as cheap as I can

So which one do you think was making the noise on yours? The t-case or the differential

That's not the answer I was hoping for lol...thx alot for your insight...I'm taking it today to be looked at I'll post results
