Hello bosshoss83-- You need to talk with a professional about your 1983 Ford Mustang. I suggest you call (800) FORD788. That will put you in touch with the experts at Ford Racing. They are happy to talk with you. Check them out at-- http://www.fordracingparts.com/home/home.asp. Good luck from Bovan.

Did you get a roller-motor? If not, your options are bit more limited. 1985+ Foxies had the roller-cams already. There are resto-fit roller setups you can toss in, but if you're sticking with the flat lifters, you've got fewer cam options open to you.

There are actually alot of choices for flat tappet, you could go with a solid lifter cam, hydraulic, solid roller or hydraulic roller, one of my friends has an f-303 FRPP cam in his 68 mustang (non-roller block)....try lunati cams or herbert performance cams...I like em. Lots of options no matter which way you go.

No such thing as a "Boss GT" Yours is just a plain 83 GT. Also you will need a flat tappet cam, NOT a hydraulic roller cam.

YES i alos have a 92 mustang lx 5.0 HO that me and my dad kinda "share" but we put an E-303 in and it is awsome..... it will give u a a!! load of mid range torque.... we also did a 75mm throttle body change... since urse is a 83 im not sure if u did a roller moder swap but if u did go E-303 and run a 75mm throttle b... if not a thumper cam will work grate if it is still a hydrolic moder... if u have any questions let me know....

Yes, and no. There was not a Fox-body "Boss GT". No special editions in 1983, either. If yours is set up that way, it was probably a dealer added package (many dealerships did that from time-to-time). There was a 1984 GT-350, however. It was a limited edition in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Mustang. It was a trim package that was available on convertibles or hatchbacks with either the 5.0L HO or the 2.3L Turbo. The package consisted of Oxford White paint, Canyon Red rocker-panel stripes, red interior with articulated front seats, and two anniversary badges on the dashboard (although I have seen many pics with blue interior and striping, so there may be more than I know). It was an option that ranged form $25-$144 depending on body style and options. An estimated 5,262 were produced; 104 turbo GT convertibles, 1,213 5.0L GT convertibles, 16 VIP convertibles, 246 Canadian versions, 3,333 5.0L GT hatchbacks, and 350 turbo GT hatchbacks. Carroll Shelby sued Ford for using the GT-350 badging without his permission.
