1969 Mustang / 200 inline 6 - Engine swap or replacement
Asked by Joseph Dec 01, 2022 at 03:57 PM about the 1969 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My car is a 1969 Ford Mustang Coupe with 200 Inline 6. Where are good places beyond Craigslist and Ebay to find a replacement engines? I'm coming up empty. Does anyone sell rebuilt crate engines?
Also, is there a good site that covers possible engines that may be a direct swap with little to no modifications?

Have you tried Summit Racing? Is there a Mustang club in your area? Sometimes they have sources to get stuff like that. Have you checked into having the stock one rebuilt and maybe modded slightly while it’s torn down? I realize that it is only a 200 so you really don’t have much to work with other than maybe blueprint and balance so you can get some higher revs without scattering it.
I've only gotten some estimates for rebuilding the current motor, sight unseen. I'm trying to find other sources and other motors so I can weigh all my options. I'm not looking to soup it up, but rather keep it stock or as close as I can, while getting it back on the road. A slight increase in power would be ok, but again, my goal is getting it back on the road with as little modification as possible. I'll definitely check the local mustang group(s)! Thanks for the suggestion
Rebuilding the original engine is best for a classic, if you have found a good rebuilder they’ll already know the weak points and what needs to be done to beef it up some and help it burn this garbage they call fuel these gays. Balancing, porting and polishing and some carb work can really help these little engines

There's no cheap alternative , if you have to ask you can't afford it , I don't mean to be a douche but you have a classic car and original is what some prefer if you were to sell it . Don't go cheap .
