2003 Toyota Camry

Asked by GuruBCDNK Dec 27, 2018 at 04:27 PM about the 2003 Toyota Camry LE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Toyota Camry. P0171 P0174 And
P0016 are the codes that appear when I check my
car. When I try to accelerate my car it slows down.
The mechanic is telling me it’s my timing belt and I
want to make sure I’m not getting taking
advantage of. I was thinking it was my fuel pump.
My car has broken down multiple times within a
two weeks span. Mechanics have replaced my
spark plugs as well saying that was the issue but it
didn’t resolve the problem at hand. Someone
please help

Codes P0171 and P0174 - vacuum leak or a bad mass air flow sensor ( maybe able to clean ). P0016 camshaft position sensor bank one.

the po 0016 indicates that your timing belt might have jumped a tooth, the other two mean that you may have a dirty MAP sensor or a vacuum leak.

Does that mean I have to replace the timing belt? My car sometimes won’t even crank up and when I try to accelerate at times it will decrease in speed and sometimes stops completely.
